Thank you for your interest in Petite Ecole Internationale’s preschool summer program, serving ages 2-5. Though we maintain French immersion throughout the year, our summers depart from our Montessori curriculum while respecting its philosophy. The summer program incorporates more playful, less academic activities that promote more social interactions and personal expression through art, movement and music. This also allows flexibility to accommodate family vacations and other summer activities. Our regular day is from 8:30-2:45, and optional extended care is available until 5:30.
We are offering two summer sessions, from June 4-29 and July 2-July 27. If you are new to PEI, you must commit to a consecutive two-week minimum over the summer. New children generally take at least that much time to get used to the language and daily routine.
Each session will be devoted to different themes while experiencing the French culture and applying everything that they learned in a series of fun events. The following table will give you an idea of what to expect during our summer program. New families will receive a copy of our Parent Handbook to familiarize themselves with Petite Ecole’s policies.
June (Session I) Science all around us
We will be exploring with science by doing a variety of experiments: working with water, velocity, sense of touch, classification boxes, nature, and experiments in the kitchen! Ms. Megan with Opus One Music will come in for weekly guided music lessons and we will do a variety of art projects to continue working with science.
July (Session II) Discovering the United States and a Voyage through France
We will take an in depth look at the United States and French traditions by studying their culture (maps, flags, cultural objects) discussing artists, and tasting classic food dishes. Our weekly music classes with Opus One Music will continue through the session.
