Multicultural Activities Weekly Highlights: January 6-12, 2019

 

Chapel Shrine: Paintings by John Patrick Cobb – Mexic-Arte Museum

Visit the Mexic-Arte Museum for this ongoing exhibit through January.

The exhibition features 19 paintings that fill an 11ft by 16ft handmade wooden chapel housed inside Mexic-Arte Museum. Individually, the works highlight distinct subjects while together they invite visitors to immerse themselves and meditate on themes pertinent during the holiday season. A series of essays by Dr. William Y. Penn Jr. serve as a meditation tool to aid the viewer in reflecting on the paintings.

Homeschool Action: Peace and Conflict in Asian America

On Wednesday, January 9, learn in a nonthreatening classroom environment how wars have affected Japanese Americans and refugees from Vietnam and other conflict areas in Asia. Explore their lives through story time, games, and Peace Board craft activity.
