Austin Symphony: Latin America
On Monday, June 11, from 7pm to 8pm, visit the Austin Central Library for a special performance by the Austin Symphony. The Austin Symphony quartet will perform pieces from or inspired by Latin America. Free and open to the public.
On Monday, June 11, visit the Rattletree School of Marimba for the weekly mbira gathering. This weekly mbira jam is free and open to anyone interested in playing/learning/just grooving on/ mbira music. For more information, visit the community calendar.
African Drumming Workshop
Visit the Pflugerville Library on Tuesday, June 12, at 2pm, for a special African Drumming Workshop. Rhythm Path brings a drum for each participant to borrow during workshop and teaches them traditional West African rhythms, songs, and culture through hands-on drumming. Recommended for ages 5-12.
Ancestral Modern: Australian Aboriginal Art from the Kaplan & Levin Collection
On Friday, June 15, visit the Blanton Museum of Art to celebrate the grand opening of Ancestral Modern: Australian Aboriginal Art from the Kaplan & Levin Collection. Enjoy music, food, activities, and live tours of the exhibition. Tickets are $12, and free for members of the Blanton Museum. More information can be found here.
Opening Reception YLA 23 and Changarrito Project
On Friday, June 15, join the Mexic-Arte Museum for the opening reception of upcoming exhibitions Young Latinx Artists 23: Beyond Walls, Between Gates, Under Bridges and Changarrito Project: Selections from the Collection 2016 – 2018. World Refugee Day
On Saturday, June 16, join the Austin Refugee Roundtable and the Bullock Museum for a free celebration of World Refugee Day and learn about the cultures that continue to make Texas the diverse place it is today. Commemorate the United Nations’ World Refugee Day at the Bullock Museum with a naturalization ceremony, free samples of world cuisine, live music, and activities for families with kids of all ages. International Day of Yoga
