Centroamericanto Fest is a cultural initiative that brings the music from Central America to Austin, TX. The festival showcases the music of some of the most influential singer-songwriters from the Central American region. This year will be the 11th edition of Centroamericanto Fest featuring Luis Enrique Mejia Godoy. The festival will take place on Saturday, September 7th at the Zach Theatre.
Throughout the past 11 years, Centroamericanto Fest has become an annual tradition in Austin, creating cultural bridges between the different countries and cultures that enrich this city. The festival has brought many influential artists from Central America as well as featuring films created by Central-American producers. Since 2012, Centroamericanto Fest has been awarded with the Cultural Contracts of the City of Austin and has held events at different public spaces in Austin such as the Hillside Theater of the Zilker Park, the Daugherty Arts Center, Plaza Saltillo, the ESB Mexican American Cultural Center and private venues like the Cactus Cafe and the Scottish Rite Theater. The City of Austin also proclaimed September 1st as Centroamericanto Fest day in 2018.
