“About the Bands:
Forró de Quintal is the newest forró band to come out of the most musical city of Texas. Well known musicians, from the Brazilian music scene in Austin, meet on the stage combining the colorful rhythms and melodies of baiões, xotes, sambas, cocos and arrastapés, all of that flavored with the most traditional Northeastern Brazilian music and dance, known as “forró”. With a distinctive formation using guitar, bass, cavaquinho, saxophone, accordion, and always relying on Afro-Brazilian percussion as foundation, Forró de Quintal brings also modern elements to its music, turning anywhere in a sweet dance floor, like dancing in your home, or even in your backyard. And, by the way, that is what “Forró de Quintal” means, a homemade lovely musical party where literally everybody is always welcome.

Huerta Culture plays dance music for parties. The band mixes the Afro/Latino rhythms with Cumbia and some Cuban Rumba and Salsa with Reggae and Ska(merenge) and a little Blues(cha cha cha) and Rock(cuban son) and Disco/pop. The sound has been dubbed ‘psichocumbia’.
