The Department of History is pleased to welcome Professor Heather A. Williams, Presidential Term Professor of Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, as the guest speaker for this year’s Littlefield Lecture series. Professor Williams is the author of Self-Taught: African American Education in Slavery and Freedom (2005), Help Me to Find My People: The African American Search for Family Lost in Slavery (2012), and American Slavery: A Very Short Introduction (2015).

We invite you to join us Tuesday, March 29 for a talk entitled  “The Emotional Violence of Slavery” andWednesday, March 30 for a talk entitled “Murder on the Plantation.”
Talks will be held in CLA 1.302E from 4:006:00 pm (both days).
