ILASSA, the Latin American Studies student association, presents its 36th annual conference, “Utopia and Reality: Latin America Confronting Globalization.” Students from all over the Americas will participate in panels in three languages.
The ILASSA36 student conference seeks to highlight the diverse forms of resistance that are emerging in Latin America and in the US Latino community to confront globalization. Amidst the current context of territorial dispossession, repression, police violence, and epistemic violence there is also an emergence of processes that seek social justice. This conference explores the different forms of social transformation from both within and outside the Academy with a critical perspective.
