Vision

The Austin Independent School District Vietnamese Dual language program serves to promote bilingualism, biculturalism and bi-literacy for all participating students. The program is committed to educate our students in a multicultural learning environment that accelerates learning and fosters life-long learners who celebrate diversity and become responsible citizens of the world.

Mission

The program’s mission is to help students develop high academic and linguistic proficiency in two languages by participating in a rigorous academic program that enhances the development of bilingualism, biculturalism, and biliteracy so that students will be well prepared for higher education, careers, and have the pride and self-confidence to be successful in the global community.

After-school Program

The Vietnamese Dual Language Program considers raising a child to be a community effort and emphasize learning beyond school hours. After-school mentoring and tutoring is offered to all students through the Asian-American Students In America (A.S.I.A.) Foundation and the collaboration with the Vietnamese Students Association (VSA) at the University of Texas. The Vietnamese Dual Language Program staff, A.S.I.A. Foundation and VSA volunteers work together to help guide our students in both academics and social development.
